This Genuine Nissan original equipment (OEM) oil slinger (or thrower as Nissan calls it) is the metal ring that fits in front of the oil pump drive gear on the crankshaft. Its job is to "sling" oil on the timing chain to help keep it lubricated at low engine rpm.
